List of Belongings at Landing

I am landing March 20 (!) via one of the Buffalo/Ft. Erie bridges. I think I've got most of what I need to do down pat, but I am seeing different ideas about the list of belongings.
I've heard some people say you could do something as simple as
Box 1 - Kitchen Items (i.e. spatulas, blender, indoor grill, etc.)
Box 2 - Bathroom items (i.e. shavers, toothbrushes, hair gel, etc.)
Box 3 - Clothing
Box 4 - Linens (sheets, towels, etc.)
But some have said they have listed every single last item. I *do* know electronics should be listed with serial #'s, so I have that covered.
Anyway, I would appreciate your thoughts on this.
