Receiving of PRC being outside of Canada

Hi Everybody,
I have pretty simple question to ask.
Basically, I have situation when I cannot live in Canada at that time when my PRC (Permanent Residence Card) will be ready. I'm going to land on Canada before my visa will be expired. But I'll flight back to my current residence. I have thing to complete.
Does anyone of you have expirience for receiving PRC outside of Canada? I read many FAQs about these subjects. There is only one way to use of representative in Canada. Does anyone of you have real person or organization who can help me with? I'll land on Toronto, ON.
Thanks. I'll appreciate your help.

You have to provide an address in Canada to mail your PR card to when you land. If you don't have one when you land, you'll have a few weeks to submit an updated address online to CIC.
If they don't have a Canadian address for you at the time your PR card is ready, re-request the card after you have a Canadian address.

It is good, Thanks.
But what is about Representative in Canada? I've read that it would be possible to use the representative. This person will send (re-send) my PRC to me outside of Canada when they will receive one by mail. Did anyone try this schema to receive PRC? Did anyone use a representative to receive first PRC?
It is urgent question, I really do not have much time.
Thanks.

Yes, you could use friends or relatives.

Ok, that is also good idea. Unfortunately, I have a lot of friends outside of Canada :), mostly in States. I find who can be my representative for this case. It is my lawyer, my attorney. It'll cost a bit money, but worth it.
Thanks to all.

CIC will not send the PR card to your attorney or representative.
I know this because I asked when I landed.

In this case, I'll have a big problem to come back to Canada. That is bad news.
Why my attorney can not receive my PRC and re-sent to me? It is his direct purpose to work on my behalf. Am I not right? What did I miss in my logical conclusions?
Thanks.

You are definitely correct Dionysus in your thinking. The attorney you are paying for is suppose to be your representative throughout your immigration process. I have received correspondence from CIC that was first sent to my law firm's address. I am not to the point of receiving my PR...I wish I was...but I would definitely contact your lawyer and ask him/her directly. If your lawyer is indeed unable to accept your PRC, ask him for suggestions. I hope this helps.
Good Luck with your PRC!

PBenton, it's not up to the lawyer to decide what CIC will do.
Dionysus, you can come back to Canada by applying for a "Travel Document - Permanent Resident Abroad." That will get you into Canada, where you can request a new PR card. Here's a link:

Thaiguy, I never implied that it was up to the lawyer what CIC will do. I was simply stating to contact the law office to be sure that they cannot receive his PRC. The law office can receive any other piece of document from CIC and in the application that was submitted the lawyer is the representative. If it was me, I would be contacting my lawyer that I paid so much money for rather than asking in a forum, but that is just my opinion.

Thanks to all of you who are keeping interest in my case.
I've already discussed with my attorney. He offered to me a possibility to use his office's address as my temporary address in Canada.
I'll pay a few amount of money for this service.
But what is interesting? He told me that in my case when I'll receive my very first PRC, I wouldn't need any representatives in Canada. Can it be true or not? I don't know yet.
Anyway I'll try this way to receive my PRC. I'm not able to explain anything right now.
I'll appreciate all your other proposals.

Hi Everybody,
A couple of months ago, I asked about any possibilities to receive my PRC outside of Canada. And I can share here my experience today.
You don't need even be in Canada by receiving very first PRC. First PRC can be received by any person or company. I didn't have any personal connection in Canada at time of my first landing. That is why I used contact of my immigration attorney. Attorney will charge money for this kind of service for re-sending PRC. It was perfectly done. Only problem can occur if on the way between Immigration Center and your local address, PRC can be stolen. You will be noticed about worst situation by immigration officer at Airport at the landing time. In this case you have to be in Canada personally to request new second PRC on your name.
I had good luck. I received my PRC after one month of nervous waiting. :)
File is closed.

Dionysus, how long did it take since you sent your last payment to the CIC and the date you got your visa to enter canada. I have been waiting 3 months and now I am nervous. I have already completed the medical tests and made my final payments as of Jan 31 2008. I was told it takes 1 - 4 months before Visa is issued, Im still waiting :-(
