Once an application for permanent residency is submitted, what are the procedures to Visit one another between Canada and the USA?
I have been told that visiting my wife in the USA is going to be very difficult, and probably not possible. I am unaware of the Canadian stance on her visiting Canada during this period.
Has anyone gone through this process and is aware of what to expect?
I am a US Citizen married to a Canadian Citizen. I never really had any problems with the border, but I have been told that it is the discretion of the border officer. Because there is a permanent residence application in the system...they can see you(or your wife...sorry not sure which one applied) as a flight risk. I always just crossed my fingers and toes and hoped for the best.
I am from Manila , I applied for a permanent resident visa. But I still had the chance to visit my sister in Canada I applied for a tourist visa and was granted. You just have to apply for a visitors visa and declare that you have a permanent visa application .
You need to apply for the visitors visa from the country you are in right now.Just try you'll never know . Best of luck
Along with my wife, I visited both the USA and Canada, out of the Dominican Republic, while having applied for Canadian Permanent Residence.
As Lyka did, we indicated this on the Temporary Residence Visa application, and even provided our Immigration File Number. We didn't have any problems.
