Loon-tionary explains many of the terms used on LoonLounge, helping you to become familiar and better navigate the site.
Blog: In your own blog you can express your ideas, opinions and musings. Blogs are found in the Community tab and are also visible from your profile page. Blogs are interactive, so LoonLounge members can join in discussions surrounding blogs.
Contacts: Your Contacts are the connections you make within the LoonLounge community. No matter where you are on the site, you can access your Contacts from your left sidebar. Your Contacts are also displayed on your Home as well as your Profile pages.
Community: The Community tab is the heart of LoonLounge. Community groups, forums, and blogs are a highly effective way to find the connections and resources and to interact with LoonLounge members from around the world.
Comment: Comments can be posted on LoonLounge members' Profile pages. My Comments on your left side bar allows you to view all the Comments you have received and those you have left for other LoonLounge members.
FAQ: Our Frequently Asked Questions is a collection of common user questions. Do you have a question about the site? Take a look at the FAQ and perhaps the answer may be there waiting for you. If you don't get the answer you are looking for there, email our technical support team in the Contact Us tab.
Forums: The forums are online bulletin boards where you can post questions and share your knowledge with other members of the LoonLounge community. Forums can be accessed from the Community tab. Groups may have their own discussion forums.
Groups: Groups are your way of joining together with LoonLounge members who have shared interests. Joining a Group based around your Visa Office, your interests, or your hobbies, broadens your support community. Groups have their own forums so you can communicate about the issues that important to your Group. Your Groups are displayed on your Profile page and can be accessed from My Groups on your left sidebar. You can browse groups from the Community tab or on other members's Profile pages.
Group Forum: The Group Forums are online discussions within Group pages where you can talk about themes specific to the Group.
Invite: Invite your friends to join LoonLounge. Indicate their emails in the Invite form and we will send them an invitation email to which you can attach a Personal Message.
Loon: The loon is the Canadian national bird and an expert at migration.
Member Search: The Member Search allows you to find other members of the LoonLounge community. You can search by a number of different fields - by name, location, school, occupation or interest. The more of your profile you fill out, the easier it is to connect with the people who can help you through the immigration experience.
Networks: LoonLounge Networks connect you with others who share the characteristics and experiences that matter to you. You can choose to join Networks based on your home country, occupation, school, or destination/place in Canada. You join networks from your profile page.
Post: This term refers to a message in a Forum discussion.
Message: One way to communicate with other individual users on LoonLounge is to send them a Message. Messages are delivered through internal mail to the LoonLounge community. You can access your Messages through My Messages on your left side bar.
Profile: Your Profile is your personal page in the LoonLounge community. This space allows you to share a little about yourself, as well as photos and a blog. Your profile displays your Contacts in the community and the Groups you belong to.
Search: The Search function on LoonLounge is a powerful tool to find the Contacts and information you are looking for. Use the Member Search to find a specific LoonLounge member, or to find people from a specific location or with a certain interest.
Suggestion: Have an idea to improve the site? We'd love to hear it. After all, the purpose of LoonLounge is to help you, the user, to find the connections and resources that can make immigration to Canada positive, exciting and successful experience. The Suggestion form is in the Community tab.
