The average overall processing time for Canadian immigration applications decreased. A recent analysis has found this improvement which fast-tracked applications by skilled-workers for the Federal Skilled Worker Category. The approximate processing time now for a skilled worker application is seven months, which represents a drastic reduction since previously the overall processing time could take up to five years

Effective April 1, 2011 A limit on the length of time a TFW may work in Canada before returning.A 4 year cumulative limit is also being imposed. After a 4 year work term, they will now have to wait 4 years before becoming eligible to again work temporarily in Canada. The limit does not affect eligibility for permanent residence; they may still apply, at any time, while they are legally in Canada or after they leave

After a year of consultation to our countrymen here in Fort McMurray I realized our people’s clamor. Our countrymen are crying for help. As we have noticed for one reasons or another some of our them were not able to get their work permit renewed. As a result, they were forcibly sent back home to our country against their will. That is now the primary concern of each and every one of us Filipinos. If that happen to anyone of us here today. Of course we have a feeling that makes our life miserable. We called it in our vernacular Calbaryo ang buhay sapagkat alam natin na mahirap ang trabaho sa atin ngayon. Yong mga napauwi wala na silang work sa atin or work under or way beyond their means.

Our Filipino Canadian Asso Ex Pres Jun Baldonado and I are restless discussing extensively what are the best possible actions we are going to take to address these major problems..

Hi!
I'm a new member of this forum. My husband is actually a MPNP Nominee and maybe based in either La Broquerie, Killarney or Kola in Manitoba. Our PR application is on process although he will be going first on a Work Visa. I just would like to know the cost of living per month in this areas for a single individual like him. I'm trying to sort out what would be left from his salary after his expenses. Thanks and hope you could give an idea on this.

Juna Banda-Lumapas Hi Kuya Gary, Thank you so much for the invite. The said Immigration Forum is quite appealing as it would be a very interesting and insightful one. While I would really love to attend, unfortunately my work will prevent me from attending. But anyway, my sister will be there. For sure she'll let me know how it turns out. Then I could still catch-up on all the news.

Every Filipino is now being dictated by conscience to actively participate to all the activities of the Filipino Communities. One of which is by attending the 17th of October Forum. We can show to the whole world that in Fort McMurray we are one for all and all for one. Every Filipino thought leans towards the interest first of others and not just for his own. As a result a Strong Filipino Community has been firmly established. United Filipino Communities in Fort McMurray our voice will surely be heard...
